I've been looking for this for years. No one is a bigger Beach Boy fan than me but I recorded this off TV in the 1980's onto a long lost cassette. Pablo Cruise DESTROYED the Beach Boys that night. What energy.
There was no comparison when it came to musical skill set. Pablo Cruise members ALL had instrumental chops far beyond anything The Beach Boys could ever dream of. Brian Wilson is a genius and Carl had a magnificent voice, but they could never replicate live what The Wrecking Crew provided on their studio recordings.
Must have been a killer show!! @ 5:43 you can see a security person poking or prodding a person in the front row to 'GET BACK'. Was only a 1 year old then...Pablo Cruise must have had an effect on society back then...like the Beatles in '64...WOW!!!
That's because Dick Clark owned the royalties to this performance. Pablo and Management are still very guarded and possessive of releasing any photos or videos of the band. This performance was long before the iPhone made recording bands a snap. This is full on Dick Clark production video. Appears to have been swiped via a Japanese fan. If I recall it was a live broadcast.
Saw these guys last night! July 3rd 2023. They were great! Unfortunately they didn’t play this one.
AMAZING!!!!
I love Pablo Cruise

Love this great band! They are still playing and sounding great.
Johnny Pierce on bass and the incredible Steve Price on drums! Ridiculous!
What a tremendous band and musicians!

Kathy Jean They are still together, check their website www.pablocruise.com for dates.
Just saw them a few nights ago in Reno. They still sound amazing!
Such a phenomenal band in the 70's, and a superb live performance. Curiously the only video I can find of them playing "Rio" live.

Horrible EDIT ~~
20+ year old live technology.
Just listen to the band.. that was a great performance.. the video is kinda lame, but it sure was fun! Steve Price is a one man wrecking crew~
